Fablyn setup guide

Connect your agent

Choose your assistant, sign in to Fablyn, and check your connection before making a video.

Connect the AI assistant you already use, then describe the video you want. You need a Fablyn account and an assistant account that supports custom connections. Browser setup needs no terminal or download.

Fablyn is in ChatGPT’s plugin directory. In ChatGPT, search for Fablyn and connect it; it works on the free plan. In Claude, add Fablyn as a custom connector with the steps below.

1. Copy Fablyn’s address

Your assistant may call this a “server URL” or “MCP URL”. Paste it into its connection settings, rather than the conversation box.

https://fablyn.app/mcp

2. Choose your assistant

Open just the instructions you need. Links open in a new tab so you can keep this guide beside you.

Claude

Before you start: Claude supports custom connectors on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Free accounts can add one. On Team or Enterprise, an organisation owner must add Fablyn first.

  1. Open Claude and sign in. Go to Customize → Connectors.
  2. Select + → Add custom connector. Name it Fablyn and paste the address above.
  3. Leave advanced authentication settings empty. Select Add, then Connect to sign in to Fablyn.
  4. Follow “Allow access” below. In a new Claude conversation, open + → Connectors and enable Fablyn.

Claude’s current setup instructions

ChatGPT

From the directory, on any plan:

  1. Open ChatGPT and sign in. Open ChatGPT Plugins and search for Fablyn.
  2. Select Fablyn and Connect, then follow “Allow access” below.
  3. Start a new conversation and describe the video you want. Say “in Fablyn” the first time if ChatGPT does not pick Fablyn on its own.

Custom connection, only if the directory is blocked for you: it uses Developer mode on the web. OpenAI lists Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education accounts; your organisation may restrict access. Developer mode allows unverified connections, so review the access you give.

  1. Open ChatGPT and sign in. Go to Settings → Security and login and enable Developer mode.
  2. Open ChatGPT Plugins and select + to create a connection. Use Fablyn as the name and “Create and revise videos in Fablyn” as the description.
  3. Enter the address above. Choose OAuth for authentication and Dynamic Client Registration if asked. Fablyn supplies the sign-in details automatically; leave optional client ID and secret fields empty.
  4. Create the connection and follow “Allow access” below. Start a new conversation, open + → Developer mode and select Fablyn.

Gemini, Perplexity and Mistral

These providers document custom connections. We have not yet tested the full Fablyn workflow in them. Check availability in your account before starting.

Gemini

Google currently requires you to be 18 or over, in the US, using a personal Google account, with English and Keep Activity enabled. Work and school accounts are excluded. This option is not currently documented as available in Australia.

In Gemini’s web app, open Settings → Connected Apps → Custom apps, enter Fablyn’s address and select Next. Complete sign-in, then use @ to select Fablyn in a conversation. Google’s setup and availability guide.

Perplexity

Requires Pro, Max or Enterprise; organisation settings may limit access. Open Account settings → Connectors → + Custom connector → Remote. Name it Fablyn, paste the address, choose OAuth and Streamable HTTP if asked, then add it and open its card to sign in. Perplexity’s setup guide.

Mistral

In its connector settings, choose + Add Connector → Custom MCP Connector, use fablyn as the name, paste the address and select Connect. Authentication is detected automatically. An administrator must add it; on individual plans, that is the account owner. Mistral’s setup guide.

Developer tools: Claude Code, Codex and Cursor

Already using a developer tool? Add Fablyn as a remote MCP server and complete sign-in in the browser it opens.

Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http fablyn https://fablyn.app/mcp

Codex: codex mcp add fablyn --url https://fablyn.app/mcp, then codex mcp login fablyn.

In Cursor, add the address above as a remote MCP server using its MCP settings.

Download the optional authoring skill. It explains how to write for Fablyn; it does not connect an account.

3. Allow access to Fablyn

  1. On Fablyn’s sign-in page, enter your email and the code sent to your inbox. Use the account that holds the Videos you want to work on.
  2. Check the workspace shown on the access page. To make a first draft, select Write compositions. This lets the agent save and revise Videos.
  3. Uncheck Generate narration and Render for now if you plan to render in Studio. Select Allow and return to your assistant.

Connecting, saving drafts and checking stills use no Fablyn rendering minutes. Your assistant’s own charges may apply. You keep control of approval; agents cannot approve unless you separately enable it in Connected agents.

4. Check that it works

With Fablyn enabled in your conversation, send this request:

Use Fablyn to list my render jobs. If there are none, tell me the list is empty. Do not create or change anything, generate narration, or render a video.

The assistant should call Fablyn and return your render jobs, or confirm there are none. A general answer about Fablyn does not confirm access. If it asks to use a tool, check the request and allow that read.

Then follow Create your first video. You can see or revoke access in Connected agents in Studio.

Need a hand?

I can’t find the connection option

Check your assistant’s account requirements above. A work or school administrator may need to enable it. In ChatGPT, Fablyn is in the plugin directory; in Claude it is a custom connection. You can still open Studio and start a Video from an example.

The address won’t copy

Select the visible address in step 1 and copy it manually. Paste the whole address, including /mcp, into the server URL field.

Sign-in doesn’t finish, or the wrong account opens

Use the same browser profile for your assistant and the Fablyn sign-in tab. If the wrong Fablyn account is open, sign out of Fablyn and restart Connect from the assistant. If your browser says it blocked the sign-in window, allow that window for the site and retry. An expired request needs a new Connect attempt. Keep your browser’s privacy protections on.

I allowed access, but the assistant can’t use Fablyn

Enable Fablyn in the current conversation’s tools, then send the connection check again. Start a new conversation if needed. Reload Connected agents in Studio to see newly allowed access; an entry there confirms permission, not that an assistant request succeeded.

The agent can read, but can’t save or render

Check its permissions in Connected agents. Saving needs Write compositions; rendering needs Render, and narrated Videos also need Generate narration. Reconnect through your assistant to change these permissions, or render the saved Video yourself in Studio. Rendering needs available minutes.

Can I use another browser or stop access?

Sign in to the same assistant account and Fablyn account when you change browsers. Check for your existing connection first. Each different assistant needs its own access. To stop an agent, open Connected agents in Studio and choose Revoke; its next request will be refused.

Still stuck? Contact support with your assistant, account plan, browser and the step that failed. Include the error text, but never your password or sign-in code.

Use your own photos or logo

Ask your agent to use your photos in your video. If it cannot send the files directly, it will give you a Fablyn link. Open it, sign in with the account you connected, choose each requested photo and select Add.

When the page says your photos are ready, return to your conversation and say “done”. Your agent can then place them in your Video and show you the Stills. You can reuse them later by name, such as “use my logo”.

Photo links last 24 hours. PNG, JPEG and WebP are supported, up to 25 MB each. Adding photos uses no rendering minutes.
